The company will supply a high-capacity rock placement system for the protection of cables and pipelines at depths of up to 400 meters
Remazel, a company of the Fincantieri Group, has signed a contract with Jan De Nul, a Belgian company and global leader in maritime and offshore engineering, for the supply of mission critical equipment for a newly built vessel.
The contract covers the design and supply of an advanced system for transporting and laying rocks on the seabed to protect cables and pipelines. The solution developed by Remazel will enable operations at depths of up to 400 meters and a production capacity of 2,000 tons/hour, ensuring precision, efficiency, and operational continuity even in complex marine conditions. The centralized control system will coordinate all onboard equipment, optimizing processes and enhancing overall operational safety.
This agreement marks a further step in Fincantieri Group’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the underwater sector and consolidates the Group’s position as a leading technological partner in the protection of offshore subsea infrastructure, an increasingly strategic area in the global geopolitical context. Thanks to an integrated supply chain of expertise, technologies, and industrial capabilities, the Group positions itself as an end-to-end player able to offer cutting-edge solutions across the entire value chain, anticipating market developments and responding to new challenges posed by the growing complexity of subsea scenarios.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, stated: “The agreement with Jan De Nul proves how much the maritime world is changing and confirms the central role of seabed operations. Our rock placement solution represents a frontier in the protection of underwater infrastructure, which is crucial for future defense and security scenarios. We are very proud of the progress made by our subsidiary Remazel, which has established itself as an international leader in the engineering and implementation of pioneering and highly innovative electromechanical solutions on board ships and on the seabed, thanks to its well-established industrial relationships with industry leaders such as Jan De Nul.”
