Initiatives to discuss the emerging underwater dimension as part of Sea Future 2023
La Spezia, on the occasion of the Sea Future event, scheduled within the naval base from 5 to 8 June 2023, there will be numerous initiatives aimed at examining the underwater dimension, which constitutes the new true fifth physical dimension after land, sea, sky and space.
The Italian Navy is historically attentive to technological innovation, as a holistic development model for the adaptation and continuous updating of the Aeronaval Instrument in order to operate in increasingly multi-domain contexts.
In this perspective, the rise of the underwater domain represents a new important and unexplored area of confrontation, as well as the cyber domain where the Italian Navy has recently started a complex evolutionary path, whose first phase ended with the CHIRONEX 2023-1 exercise last April as part of the wider Open Sea 23-1 exercise, aimed at improving resilience to cyber attacks and operational capabilities in cyberspace in the Defense field.
Precisely to be ready for new challenges, the Navy wants to put these two worlds, apparently distant from each other, in contact.
The reflections will be the subject of a comparison in three dedicated panels and indicated below:
– First panel: 5 June, 14.30 – 16.30 – Arsenale Marina Militare – Hall 61 – Conference Room 1, entitled “How to unveil the underwater dimension”;
– Second panel: 6 June, 10.30 – 12.30 – Marceglia frigate board entitled “How to protect the cyber underwater dimension”; – Third panel: 7 June, 9.30 – 11.00 – Vespucci ship entitled “New technologies for the ocean mapping”.
