On June 30, Virginio Fasan sailing off the east coast of the United States received on board the visit of the Commander of the Carrier Strike Group 2 of the US Navy, Rear Admiral Marc Miguez.
To welcome on board Admiral Miguez Commander of the CSG-2, the Commander of the Unit, Frigate Captain Fabio Casamassima, “It is always an honor to sail alongside you and have the opportunity to grow professionally and to test yourself by working side by side with you!” these are the words of the Captain of Nave Fasan.
The Commander of the CSG-2 expressed satisfaction with the integration of Fasan into the aircraft carrier group, adherence to operational procedures and the professionalism demonstrated in all training activities conducted so far.
Left the moorings from the Naval Base of Norfolk (USA), starting from 15 June, the FREMM ASW of the Navy, is integrated into the Naval Escort Group to the American aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), as part of the Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X).
The C2X is the largest exercise that is carried out annually by the US Navy and represents a real test bed for a Carrier Strike Group before deployment, during this period the integration and interoperability capabilities between the Navy Unit and the US Aircraft Carrier Group are tested, within which it contributes in all forms of combat (AAW, ASuW, ASW).
The participation of Nave Virginio Fasan represents an important moment to demonstrate the level of interoperability achieved between the Italian Navy and the US Navy as well as allowing to continue the integration activities with allied aircraft carrier groups with a view to common security. “In aleis strenua in pugna invicta”
