The Italian Land Armaments Directorate has signed a contract with IDV, the Iveco Group brand specialising in defence and civil protection vehicles, for the supply of 1,453 tactical-logistics trucks. The new vehicles, which will be delivered between 2025 and 2038, represent an important step in the renewal and modernization of the Italian Army’s fleet of tactical-logistical vehicles.
The contract provides for the supply of several military logistics platforms based on the new range of IDV trucks and equipped with tactical cabs. The vehicles will be produced at the Iveco Group plant in Piacenza with various configurations – from troop and material transport to water and fuel tanks, roll-off container transport, recovery and towing complexes – also offering a deep logistical commonality between the different platforms. These are new generation vehicles, which guarantee the highest levels of mobility, protection, maneuverability and reliability.
Iveco Defence Vehicles’ High Mobility range of 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 battle-proven trucks is designed to offer high protection and mobility for demanding specialist military logistic applications. With its exceptional mobility and fording capability of 850mm, Iveco Defence Vehicles’ High Mobility Range offers tactical support to military operations in the most hostile environmental conditions, from -32°C to +49°C. Thanks to its modular design, the High Mobility Product Range can be readily customized to meet specific user requirements in terms of both cab and driveline.
The entire range of Iveco Defence Vehicles’ High Mobility Trucks is designed to mount protected cabs with add-on armour kits offering both anti-mine and ballistic protection. The add-on armour kits can rapidly fitted and removed, making field repairs quick and easy, by simply changing the damaged module.
