With over 40 years of experience in the electronic maritime field, Elettronica Marittima, an SME based close to Ferrara, has moved its focus in the last few years towards the military market, producing specific systems mostly dedicated to naval units and Special Forces. The company is also active in command and control systems, navigation systems, automatic police reports systems, field measurement systems, and software.
The company portfolio includes numerous VHF/UHF antennas for line-of-sight and SATCOM communications, the company highlighting at SeaFuture 2023 its EVO-A[1]SAT 8P family of antennas. This is build over the hand-held RRAO model, developed with the Italian Army 185th Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition Parachute Regiment, a 500 grams 235 mm long antenna which radiant elements open in less than 3 seconds allowing immediate SATCOM communication, the antenna being omnidirectional therefore needing just to be generically aimed towards the satellite.
The basic model evolved into a modular system which gain is enhanced adding reflective and bi-directional modules, maintaining quick assembly features and limited weight and size. To further improve communications Elettronica Marittima developed a lightweight amplifier, known as MOD-EVO-A-ALPIPAR, as it was based on requirements issued by the 4th Alpini Parachute Regiment, the Italian Army Ranger unit. Compact, with a weight of 820 grams without battery, it increases emitting power; two levels, 12 W and 20 W are available.
A low noise 20 dB amplifier improves the receiving signal. Accessories to install the amplifier on a vehicle are available. Elettronica Marittima antennas are fitted to many naval platforms, used by Italian military and law enforcement agencies, as well as on many land platforms. The company is active in providing solutions when multiple sets of antennas on a single platform need layout optimisation, to ensure maximum connectivity on all bands.
To this end the company developed an airborne field measurement system that allows monitoring in real time the emissions of a selected antenna over a vehicle, ensuring the optimal antenna positioning on the platform. Elettronica Marittima is linked to Academia and is investing in research and development to continuously generate state of the art products.
