ELT participated in the 8th edition of Seafuture, which took place in La Spezia between 5 and 8 June. The Show was an opportunity to present the company’s solutions and capabilities in the naval and underwater field gained in over seventy years of activity in the domain of the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMSO) and today enriched by new cyber capabilities.
ELT has a consolidated experience in naval EW systems gained also thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Navy for the PPA and LHD Trieste class ships. ELT systems cover the entire COMMS and RADAR spectrum for surveillance, detection and analysis, combined with the most advanced Jamming countermeasure based on GaN modules.
ELT also provides the EWS suite for U212 NFS submarines, where it has installed a highly innovative integrated submarine antenna group, which enables detection and direction detection with excellent performance across the entire radar and communications spectrum. The naval countermeasures capability can be further extended to the Infrared spectrum through the Naval DIRCM system, which can protect the ship from new emerging I/R threats.
Seafuture was an opportunity to present an increase in the capabilities of the ADRIAN (Anti-Drone Interception, Acquisition and Neutralisation) antidrone for military and maritime security ships.
With the support of the subsidiary Cy4Gate, ELT has implemented ADRIAN with a new feature, called “Cyber RF”, which makes the product able to identify and react effectively to new and more complex operational scenarios, both military and civilian, threatened by new generation malicious drones.
In particular, the “Cyber RF” is a complement to the “jamming”, “radar” and “visual” modules that further improves performance: it allows the complete taking control of the drone to obtain a “safe landing”, avoids impacts on services and systems present in the area and fully enables the control of the hostile drone during contrast.
It is a capability capable of ensuring 100% detection of most commercial drones used for hostile purposes, and also allows a real-time localization of the drone and the pilot, the possibility of identification and obtaining the relative telemetry (so-called “Cyber Detection”) and, finally, a selective control and contrast (so-called “Cyber countermeasures”).
Also with reference to the cyber domain, the “Hybrid Cyber Digital Twin” will be presented, a platform capable of simulating an IT/OT network to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement countermeasures in advance that can make the ability to hacker attacks more effective and timely. The digital twin allows to improve the cyber resilience of the networks and technologies installed there, make the training of red and blue teams more effective by making them exercise on simulated attack scenarios with the use of real and current threats and to create a “honey net” or a simulated network identical to the real one to be used as a “cyber bait” for the attacker, in order to isolate it, study its behaviour and attack techniques and adapt its defence measures. The technology has a high flexibility of tactical use thanks to its characteristic of being “transportable”.
