As part of the training activities of the Multinational Battle Group Bulgaria, included within the “Enhanced Vigilance Activity” mission in Bulgaria, the Carabinieri of the 1st Carabinieri Parachute Regiment “Tuscania” took part as instructors in some training sessions related to combat techniques in inhabited centers.
The activities, carried out within the Novo Selo Training Area, where there is a town dedicated to the training of troops, were focused on the techniques of handling the weapons supplied, the tactics for accessing and securing buildings and the procedures for movement within urban areas.
In particular, the activity was included within the regular training program of the Battle Group through periods dedicated and tailored to the training capacity proposed by the personnel belonging to the “Tuscania”.
The 1st Carabinieri Parachute Regiment “Tuscania”, depends on the Second Carabinieri Mobile Brigade stationed in Livorno and is the holder of military tasks (typical of paratrooper troops), police and training.
Since its foundation, which dates back to 1940, the “Tuscania” in addition to particular delicate operations on the national territory, has participated in all the most important missions abroad alongside the other Italian Armed Forces, with uses also related to the security of the Diplomatic Offices characterized by greater risk. The Multinational Battle Group Bulgaria, within which Italy assumes the role of framework nation, reached Full Operational Capability (FOC) on December 14th and is composed, in addition to Italy and Bulgaria, of representatives of the United States of America, Greece, Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
