The visit of the Secretary General of Defense and National Armaments Director, Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano, to Algeria on May 25th.
During this visit, a delegation composed of representatives from Segredifesa and Leonardo went to the industrial site of Setif, headquarters of the Joint Venture between Leonardo and EPIC/EDIA. The occasion allowed for further impetus to be given to finalize all the necessary conditions to make the Joint Venture operationally concrete and move on to the industrial phase of helicopter assembly.
In particular, contingencies have been created to accelerate the times for signing the accessory agreements and the order for the first 7 AW139 helicopters out of 70 total (53 for the Algerian market). The Algerian counterpart confirmed the progress of negotiations and that the Algerian Ministry of Defense has already allocated financial resources to ensure industrial sustainability in the coming years.
