The first hub in the Mediterranean on technological innovation and the blue economy
On May 19, at the headquarters of the Federation of the Sea in Rome, a press conference was held to present the eighth edition of SEAFUTURE, hosted inside the Naval Base of La Spezia and organized by Italian Blue Growth srl and the Navy.
The event is confirmed as the most important international event in Italy of the Blue Economy sector and the first hub in the Mediterranean that takes into consideration all aspects of the integrated maritime policy, based on the ‘Blue Growth’ strategy, as indicated by the European Commission.
The event was attended by the Underchief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral of the Team, Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, the president of Italian Blue Growth srl, Dr. Cristiana Pagni and Dr. Laurence Martin, Secretary General of the Federation of the Sea.
There will be more than 300 companies that will exhibit their services and products in over 35 thousand square meters in the historic Naval Base of La Spezia, with the intervention of 71 confirmed foreign delegations, 12 boats moored in the Dock Area and about 400 square meters of outdoor exhibition area, 78 foreign companies from France, Germany, Norway, Finland, England, Sweden, USA, Belgium, China, Canada and Austria.
Many actors, in fact, meet and discuss here: “With great pleasure I note how this year’s edition, compared to the previous ones, records the highest number of representation of foreign Navies, present with 28 chiefs of staff and 33 delegates – said the Underchief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto – A clear testimony of the goodness of our work and the attractiveness of products and technologies Italians who are gaining increasing interest at a global level”.
Parallel to the initiatives promoted by the Navy, the General Secretariat of Defense and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, there will be round tables to build a consensus around the issues of energy transition, circular economy, health of the marine environment. In the light of a very delicate global context, issues such as Maritime Safety and Security, Eletronic Warfare, Cyber Defence, Underwater Defence will be addressed, topics of close relevance and primary importance because: “The safety of the seas is fundamental for our survival” as stated at the end of his speech by Admiral Berutti Bergotto.
“SEAFUTURE knows how to dialogue and knows how to make dialogue even realities that speak different languages or that start from different points of view to get to give concrete answers. We represent a “unicum” for a sustainable economy and to consolidate Italy’s role in the Mare Nostrum, in the Mediterranean – so the President of IBG, Cristiana Pagni, in her speech – The seas need us to guarantee a wave of change and guarantee economic and environmental sustainability to today’s generations and to all those to come”.
The exponential growth of the event that has been witnessed for years, also confirmed by the many specialized magazines of the sector from India, Emirates, France, Malaysia, Belgium and Lebanon present, is due to its industrial and technological imprinting that has made it a place of meeting, comparison, exchange of know-how and design.
In addition, the eighth edition of SEAFUTURE is characterized by some special initiatives ranging from the world of art and cinema, with a guest of great international appeal such as the actor Giancarlo Giannini, to information with the FUORI ONDA format created in collaboration with the Order of Journalists. From the underwater dimension, to the initiative of the Water Academy Foundation “One Ocean One Health: the health of the sea is decided on land” and much more up to over fifty events in 4 days, from 5 to 8 June.
SEAFUTURE 2023 is supported by the Navy, the Ligurian District of Marine Technologies, the General Secretariat of Defense, the Riviere di Liguria Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Italian Companies for Aerospace, Defense and Security (AIAD).
