International exercise in Romania for Army paratroopers scouts.
The NATO exercise Saber Guardian 23 ended in recent days at the training area of Frecatei, in Romania, which saw the participation of assets of the Northern Operational Forces Command belonging to the Folgore Brigade, composed of soldiers of the “Savoia Cavalleria” regiment, responsible for the entire activity, of the 183rd “Nembo” regiment and of the 8th engineer regiment.
Twelve allied nations and partners participated, in addition to Italy: Albania, Bulgaria, France, Greece, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Holland and the USA. Conducted every two years, this activity is planned with the aim of improving interoperability between the participating units and has provided for the development of a wide range of tactical activities. In the final exercise paratroopers of the Folgore operated in the maneuvering scheme of the Romanian 282nd Mechanized Brigade.
Performing an airdrop with the free-fall technique and in coordination with a paratroopers company of the Romanian 495th Airborne Battalion, engaged on a different launch area, the explorers received the task of reconnaissance of the area, identifying and assigning targets with the intervention of air assets, near the river bank.
