With a ceremony held at the Adria plant, in the presence of the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, the Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al Mangoush, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Olivér Varhelyi, the Vittoria Shipyard delivered to the Italian Government the TS -LCG 300 unit of type S.A.R. (Search and Rescue).
This new construction, twin of those currently supplied to the Italian Coast Guard, is built in light aluminum alloy and is unsinkable and self-righting. About 20 meters long, 6 meters wide, with a draft of 0.95 meters, the boat is able to reach a maximum continuous speed at full load of over 35 knots and to accommodate up to 200 people on board.
The design and construction of the boat was entrusted to the Venetian company, specialized in the construction of military, paramilitary, work, commercial and transport boats up to 100 meters in length, as part of a tender, worth 10 million 450 thousand euros, called by the General Command of the Corps of Port Authorities in 2016 for the construction of five S.A.R units (plus ten optional) for the Italian Coast Guard. In June 2022, as part of the same assignment, the Venetian company signed a sale contract with the Coast Guard and the Italian Ministry of the Interior for three of the ten optional units for a value of about 8 million euros. The remaining two units will be delivered during 2023.
