The Joint Organisation for Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), acting on behalf of the French Directorate General for Armaments (DGA), notified EUROSAM, a joint venture of THALES and MBDA, of a contract for the procurement of additional SAMP/T NG Ground-Based Air Defence systems for the French Air Force.
This additional order will increase the number of SAMP/T NG sections already planned for delivery to the French Air Force. The new sections will comprise next-generation Engagement Modules (C2), Ground Fire (GF300) multifunction radar sensors, and new launchers capable of firing Aster missiles.
The contract represents another significant milestone for the cooperative SAMP/T NG programme managed by OCCAR on behalf of France and Italy. The programme is designed to provide long-range ground-based air and missile defence capabilities to the armed forces of both nations, as well as other European forces, enabling them to address increasingly complex conventional and ballistic aerial threats.
