IDV is proud to announce that its VIKING uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) will be trialled by the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) as part of its Autonomous Multifunctional Ground Vehicle Demonstrator Programme. This follows on from recent successful demonstrations at the Alpine Star exercise in Italy and the AUKUS TORVICE trials across the UK, USA and Australia.
The IDV VIKING is a 6×6 plug-in series hybrid diesel UGV which delivers exceptional versatility for modern defence operations. With an electric-only range of 20km and low acoustic/thermal signature, VIKING provides crucial tactical advantages in contested environments. The innovative UGV features a 750kg payload capacity, 200km+ hybrid range, and our proprietary MACE (Modular Autonomous Control Equipment) system with ATLAS AI-based navigation for reliable operation even in GNSS-denied environments.
The Swedish programme will evaluate how UGVs perform across multiple roles, their integration with crewed systems, and effectiveness in countering autonomous threats including drones.
