Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta S.p.A. (“Beretta”) today announced a strategic partnership with Auryn Aero, an innovative Italian company specialising in autonomous aerial systems, to develop and deliver next- generation solutions for the modern battlefield.
The partnership brings together Beretta’s long-standing expertise in soldier systems and Auryn Aero’s advanced capabilities in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and artificial intelligence. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to accelerate the integration of UAS technologies into dismounted soldier operations, addressing the rapidly evolving nature of contemporary conflict.
Responding to a Changing Battlefield
Insights from the Beretta White Paper on the Dismounted Soldier published earlier this year highlight that while warfare is increasingly shaped by technological change, the dismounted soldier remains the central and most adaptable element on the battlefield.
At the same time, recent operational lessons—particularly from Ukraine—demonstrate that UAS are becoming ubiquitous and are fundamentally changing how military forces operate.
Beretta’s White Paper emphasises the need to better equip and support soldiers through enhanced mobility, survivability, situational awareness and system integration.
The partnership with Auryn Aero directly responds to this vision.
A Shared Vision: The Augmented Soldier
By combining Beretta’s soldier-centric systems with Auryn Aero’s autonomous drone technologies, the partnership will:
- Enhance real-time situational awareness through integrated ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) capabilities
- Improve operational effectiveness via AI-enabled decision support and targeting
- Expand the soldier’s reach with deployable UAS and counter-UAS (cUAS) solutions
- Strengthen survivability through advanced threat detection and mitigation
Auryn Aero’s platforms—ranging from nano and FPV drones to heavier surveillance systems—will be integrated into Beretta’s broader portfolio of defence solutions.
