In recent days, the Italian “Baltic” Task Group has completed its first multinational exercise called “War Horse Forge”.
The exercise aimed at the application and refinement of specific technical-tactical procedures at a complex multi-weapon tactical level, aimed at consolidating interoperability by aiming to achieve full integration between the various units of the MN Battle Group – LVA, a Canadian lead.
The exercise, in its continuous development of 5 days, saw the participation of units and assets belonging to the countries involved in the Forward Land Forces (FLF) operation in Latvia, which were intensely engaged from the planning phase to the conduct phase, with the task of gradually achieving the ability to maneuver as a fully coordinated operational tool, combined, to create a single and cohesive force, as an effective response to potential threats.
The Italian soldiers, whose operational component is mainly drawn from the 132^ “Ariete” Armoured Brigade of the Italian Army, conducted the training by acquiring further familiarity with the terrain and the environment, adapting the procedures of use, testing the weapon systems, the means and the materials supplied. In an operational environment characterized by harsh climatic conditions, the logistical support guaranteed by the national assets to the maneuvering units also played a key role, allowing the development of operational activities.
The training took the form of synchronization and combined use of the various assets under the multinational Battle Group, consolidating the degree of interoperability and standardizing common operating procedures, aimed at making a possible intervention of the Allied Forces faster and more effective in case of need. The Italian units have distinguished themselves in the conduct of precise tactical activities, demonstrating excellent ability to operate in synergy with the other allied forces. The exercise simulated complex operational scenarios, testing both the procedural skills of the individual fighter and the collective skills of each department.
