The navigation of Nave Morosini towards Ho Chi Minh begins when it is still dark, the second stage of the campaign in the Indo Pacific launched on April 6th. Few lights, thunderstorms on the horizon, fishing boats that crowd the route and an unprecedented landscape as a backdrop to a whole new context for the young crew of the Morosini ship.
What led the ship to the main city of Vietnam on May 9 was an intense river navigation through the Saigon River, a suggestive and historic watershed of the former city of the same name.
The careful navigation, the constant control of the seabed, the mangrove forests to delimit the navigable channel under the gaze of the maneuvering officer, the cadence of the carryovers of the route officer have marked the almost 6 hours of transit up to see in an increasingly important way the forms of the city.
The ship, arrived in port, where it will remain until May 12, found to welcome and welcome the Ambassador of Italy in Vietnam, Dr. Antonio Alessandro and a large representation of local military and civil authorities who wanted to pay homage to the captain and crew according to their custom. In the coming days the unit and crew will be engaged in an intense activity of representation and promotion of the country system in a nation of growing importance in the Indo-Pacific area.
With its strong technology, the PPA plunges into a new context for our country where opportunities for growth, dialogue and international cooperation represent an opportunity in which the Italian Navy, thanks to its Naval Diplomacy activity, plays a leading role.
