The eighth edition of SEAFUTURE closes with great satisfaction from everyone: the companies participating in La Spezia had important opportunities to make themselves known internationally, given the presence of over 70 Delegations from all over the world, both institutional and Marine Military – with 28 Chiefs of Staff – and General Secretariats of Defense, as well as by numerous visitors at national and international level.
The more than 310 exhibitors are the thermometer of numbers that go beyond expectations. Visiting the 35 thousand square meters of exhibition area, obtained inside the Arsenale della Spezia, you can breathe the enthusiasm: among the more than 80 foreign companies we greet each other with a goodbye to the next edition which will be in 2025.
The positioning of SEAFUTURE among the leading European events in the fields of marine technologies, security and defense is consolidated as evidenced by the more than 3,000 pre-organized b2b and over 20,000 participants.
“I thank all those who have followed us and effectively supported us in these days of great dedication: exhibitors, Italian and foreign delegations, institutions, sponsors, workers, visitors, schools, universities, associations and journalists” says Cristiana Pagni, President of Italian Blue Growth, the company that organizes SEAFUTURE.
“Seafuture – underlines the president of IBG – today represents a unicum for the Blue Economy in the Mediterranean Sea basin, an essential hub to relaunch the country’s economy in the name of sustainability, innovation and energy transition and the interest of the numerous participants testifies to this.”
Our country, due to its strategic and central position on the Mediterranean, must play a leading role at European level by focusing on the sea: it is no coincidence that 25% of GDP derives from activities related to the blue resource. Also, the latest data from Confartigianato presented at SEAFUTURE, show that production in Italian coastal areas represents 50.6% of GDP against an average of 36.6% in the countries of the European Union.
At a global level, it is now clear that the new challenges will be played out in the underwater dimension: strategic infrastructures for energy supply and digital telecommunications are located on the seabed.
“Alexander Pope says: the sea unites what separates – says Cristiana Pagni – We want to be protagonists of a shared path that increases knowledge and awareness: necessary tools to unite and overcome economic and social gaps; We do this mainly because we owe it to the younger generation. It is not secondary, in fact, that SEAFUTURE wants to be a concrete opportunity also for young people who in each edition are awarded through the SEAFUTURE AWARDS. This recognition is realized together with the Ligurian District of Marine Technologies, our essential partner, the Regional School Office and the Carispezia Foundation. Godmother of this year’s award ceremony was journalist Carmen Lasorella.”
“Yesterday – underlines the president of IBG – we concluded this week with the sea talks, dialogues on the sea, which were joined by internationally known lecturers such as Roberto Danovaro, Ferdinando Boero, Patrizia Majorca and Silvia Pagnoscin. We could not have chosen a better conclusion: we strongly believe that only through knowledge and training we can influence the future by working on the protection and conservation of the marine environment.” After the eighth edition, the SEAFUTURE staff is already working: in the coming weeks the comparisons between the partners will begin to set up the 2025 edition that will see the Navy alongside IBG to further strengthen the role of this event at national and international level.
