The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello “Aviazione Navale”, a special limited and numbered edition of the latest addition to the Moto Guzzi family, has been presented as a world premiere on board the aircraft carrier Cavour. The project was made possible thanks to Difesa Servizi S.p.A., which exclusively granted the use of the “Aviazione Navale” brand to Moto Guzzi Gruppo Piaggio for the production of 1913 numbered specimens and the related helmet bearing the emblem.
With this bike full of cutting-edge technologies, Moto Guzzi and the Navy have celebrated the deep bond that has united them for over a century. The eagle with spread wings, the unmistakable emblem of Moto Guzzi since its foundation in 1921, originates from the common militancy of the founders Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi in the Air Service of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
During the war, the two friends, together with the pilot Giovanni Ravelli, decided to devote themselves, after the war, to the construction of motorcycles. Ravelli, however, could not fulfill his dream because he was the victim of an accident in 1919. Guzzi and Parodi chose the Eagle as a symbol also to remember their friend.
The exclusive Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale is also a tribute to the year of foundation of the air component of the Italian Navy.
It is a unique model starting from the dedicated livery, which is inspired by the fighters supplied to the Armed Forces. The graphics faithfully follow those of the aircraft, with the insignia of the Italian Navy on both sides of the fairing, also enlivened by the typical “jet intake” stripes that signal the air intakes of the jets. The livery is also enriched by the tricolor cockade with low visibility on the sides of the tank, the coat of arms of the Naval Aviation and the logo of the Gruppo Aerei Imbarcati.
Standard equipment includes the TPMS tyre pressure sensor and heated grips, while the serial number is laser engraved on the handlebar riser. Each model is accompanied by a dedicated motorcycle cover and a commemorative plaque.
