Korean Navy Officers and local technical partners completed an in-depth 2-week DRASS course aboard the new ASR-II submarine rescue ship.
ASR-II ship, named Ganghwado, in construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), one of the largest military shipyards in the world, is expected to be delivered to the Navy at the end of 2023 following a series of final onsite trials and evaluations by DRASS team.
The ship’s deep diving saturation system was designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned by DRASS in collaboration with local partner Dongil Shipyard. The system operation and maintenance training course was conducted by DRASS engineers and comprised a series of theory and practical sessions.
DRASS is preferred supplier of the Korean Government and DSME for diving and submarine rescue equipment, and is also a returning partner after the successful delivery of Korean Navy ATS-II rescue in 2016 and, prior to that, the Korean Maritime Police rescue ships ASR21, ATS1 and ASR58.
