Elt Group and Leonardo have signed a contract for a major upgrade of the Electronic Warfare suite for the Air Force’s fleet of C-27J “Spartan” aircraft. The contract is part of a larger aircraft retrofit activity formalised between Leonardo and Armaereo at the end of last year. The upgrade will improve the flexibility and operability of the aircraft, ensuring that it can be used in a variety of scenarios. The agreement provides for the upgrade of the flagship aircraft, but can later be extended to the other 11 aircraft in the fleet.
This activity is part of the already solid collaboration with Leonardo in the field of Electronic Warfare, which was strengthened by a broader agreement signed in March ’23 for the C-27J and ATR-72 platforms. Following an in-depth technical and technological analysis led by the Air Force, the ESM and Dircm systems of Elt Group were selected on board the C-27J. These systems represent core components of Elt Group’s skills, and constitute the building blocks for even much more complex architectures (Sigint solution), already used by many operating platforms both in Italy and abroad.
