The Italian Contingent, based on the Taurinense Alpine Brigade, part of the NATO Battlegroup deployed on the south-eastern flank of the Atlantic Alliance as part of the “Enhanced Vigilance Activity” Operation, entered a few days ago in the sixth month of operational activity abroad.
All the operational and training activities conducted so far have been carried out continuously also thanks to the support of the National Support Element (NSE), a component of the Italian Contingent that guarantees 24 hours a day and 7 days a week the logistical support of adherence to the Italian maneuver units and does not fail to support the allied ones.

Main actors in ensuring the logistical support of adherence the platoons maintenance and supplies on the basis of the 3rd Alpine Regiment, Regiment that provides the backbone of the Contingent.
Since the deployment of the Contingent, which took place at the end of July 2022, over 700 corrective and maintenance interventions have been carried out by the maintenance platoon on all the main vehicles, weapon systems and radio equipment supplied.
Also important is the ability to recover and clear tactical vehicles damaged during operational activities, which was guaranteed by the NSE both in favor of Italian vehicles and Allied Contingent vehicles, with a view to full integration and interoperability of support assets.
Finally, worthy of note is the construction of the camp that houses the 260 Italian soldiers, built in just one week at the end of July 2022 and continuously improved over time with a series of interventions aimed at improving the protection and well-being of personnel.
There are about 1,000 tons of sand and gravel used for the construction of the protection works of sensitive areas and over 2,000 square meters of walkways laid inside the camp in order to ensure safe practicability even in months subject to heavy rainfall.
The Alpine Troops of the Army, particularly oriented towards logistical autonomy since their establishment, are not new to these modes of field deployment with high projectability. In particular, the 3rd Alpine Regiment of the Taurinense Alpine Brigade, in March 2022, had set up and maintained efficiency in the upper Val Chisone, as part of the White Fox 2022 exercise, just a camp of the type described above that had hosted over 300 soldiers from three different nations for over two months of training activity.
