At the end of an intense four-week period, a course for the qualification to use the on-board and armament systems of the Medium Armored Vehicle VBM FRECCIA Mortar Carrier version was concluded in recent days at the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment “mortar holder” version.
During the training activity, aimed at providing the plumed infantrymen with the technical-tactical skills for the use of on-board weaponry systems, various topics were dealt with on functional logic, observation methods and shooting conduct, on the electronic management and control components, as well as on all the maintenance and verification procedures of the parts of the curved firing weapon equipment, the main feature of the VBM FRECCIA Mortar Carrier. The different phases, characterized by a diversification of the training offer, are the result of a complex synergy implemented by specialized military instructors and civilian personnel belonging to the Iveco – Oto Melara Consortium.
The VBM FRECCIA Mortar Carrier is a combat vehicle with high mobility, protection, armament and technological level qualities, suitable for use in various contexts such as stabilization and reconstruction operations with a high risk index. It is part of a broader context of digitization of the Armed Force, the Forza NEC (Network Enable Capability) project, in line with numerous NATO countries that, in a process of technological transformation, have proceeded to implement the ability to combine in a unique network of elements as diverse as doctrinal, procedural, technical, organizational and human ones. In this way, organizational diversities can integrate to achieve and maintain a marked strategic superiority.
