The joint Iron Strike exercise conducted by NATO Multinational Battle Group Bulgaria has ended.
The training activity, which lasted 4 days, saw all the units of the NATO Battle Group engaged again, which, within the Novo Selo Firing Range, operated in close coordination with the main objective of interoperability on the ground.
For the Iron Strike 300 men and 70 tactical vehicles were deployed: the Italians SPH (Self-Propelled Howitzer) PZH2000, AFV (Armoured Fighting Vehicle) Armored Centauro, AIFV (Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle) Freccia, AIFV Freccia Mortar Carrier and AIFV Freccia Spike, LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle ) VTLM Lince 2, Greek M901 ITVs (Improved Tow Vehicles), American M2 IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) and Bulgarian MTLBs (Multi-Purpose Towing Vehicle Light Armoured).
In addition, an air defence system and a tactical air controllers were deployed on the ground.
“We are constantly training to achieve amalgamation on the ground between soldiers from different countries with different training and technical-tactical procedures,” said Lieutenant Colonel De Santis, Commander of the Task Group exercised. “We work in synergy and every training moment is useful for us to improve our deterrence capacity in the event of possible threats on the eastern front of Europe. We are NATO is not just a slogan for us, but an important statement that reminds us, beyond our purpose, of our values of peace and freedom. “
The Iron Strike exercise further confirms the strong cohesion between NATO member countries under the Multinational Battle Group Bulgaria, as well as the ability to react to any threats perpetrated on the eastern flank of Europe. The exercise was conducted in accordance with international laws and standards.
