On the morning of Saturday 5 February the CAOC of Torrejon, through the CRC (Control Reporting Center) of Balotesti (Bucharest), activated the procedures for the rapid take-off on scramble of a pair of Eurofighters of the Task Force Air Black Storm deployed in the context of of the mission in Romania as part of the eAPAS (enhanced Air Policing Area South) operation.
The scramble, a technical term to indicate precisely the request for a rapid take-off, was ordered to the two Italian interceptor fighters of the QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) cell following a potential risk of unauthorized entry of air traffic into the region of competence of the entities of the Romanian control FIR (Flight Information Region).

The Italian aircraft have been assigned the task of carrying out a CAP (Combat Air Patrol) within the Romanian airspace to monitor traffic before returning to Mihail Kogalniceanu airport.
The Air Black Storm Task Force is deployed at the Romanian Mihail Kogălniceanu airport in Constanta to help ensure the integrity of Romania’s airspace by strengthening the surveillance activities carried out by Forṱele Aeriene Romậne, the Romanian Air Force.
Since early December, under the Lead of the 36 ° Stormo, the Eurofighter 2000 aircraft are present on the Romanian base with flight crews from the four Stormi which guarantee, without interruption, the defense of the Italian airspace (4 ° Stormo di Grosseto , the 36th of Gioia del Colle, the 37th of Trapani and the 51st of Istrana).
This is the second time, after the first experience in 2019, that Eurofighter 2000 aircraft have been deployed in Romania in Air Policing operations.
