The first green Offshore Patrol Vessel destined for the Italian Guardia di Finanza was Christen today in Canal Bianco with the name of P.04 “Osum”. The launch ceremony was held this morning in the Vittoria Shipyard, in the presence of the CEO of the Polesine company, Luigi Duò, and the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, General of the Army Corps, Giuseppe Zafarana, the launching ceremony. of the 60-meter diesel or diesel-electric propulsion boat designed and built by the Vittoria Shipyard for the performance of economic and financial police functions at sea.
The Venetian company specialized in the design and construction of military, paramilitary, work, commercial and transport boats up to 100 meters in length, had been awarded the order for the construction of the Offshore Patrol Vessel unit, with a total value of 32 million and 400 thousand euros, from the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza in 2020. The delivery of the unit is scheduled for 2022.
Made in collaboration with Damen Shipyards Group, Casa Vittoria’s new Opv is over 60 meters long, 9.5 meters wide, has a draft of 3.5 meters and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 26 knots. It has an ax bow or Ax Bow capable of ensuring excellent seaworthiness even in difficult weather and sea conditions, without having to limit speed. The unit is characterized by the introduction of a diesel-electric propulsion at patrol speeds up to 9 knots which allows it to be a low-emission vehicle with a reduced environmental impact.
The two main propulsion diesel engines are flanked by reversible electric motors of 270 kw each which can act as propulsion engines on patrol or supply electricity to the other speeds. On board the boat can accommodate up to 30 crew members to which an additional 8 can be added for Frontex personnel.
